RCCIL is an independent database of research on London's cultural & creative industries. It aims to make research more accessible to policy-makers, academics & service-providers.
Research included in this theme relates to the field of cultural policy-making, ranging from policy evaluation, the role of public subsidy in the creative economy, the public value of cultural and creative activities, and discussions over intellectual property. Issues covered by this research also include the dilemmas and contradictions of cultural and creative policies, their conceptual nature, and recommendations for policy-making in the different sectors.
It is important to note that RCCIL does not include policy documents, but summaries of research conducted on policy-related issues. However, when a policy document has been summarised, it was on the ground that it also included substantial research that added to the knowledge base of the cultural/creative sector. Links to governmental organisations and funders are, in most cases, provided in the summary pages.
